Also, when she is physically punishing her submissive, she must not take it too far. Self control can help stop the dominant from hurting her submissive.

If a dominatrix is taking all of her frustrations out on her submissive, she is only hurting the relationship. Punishments must be fair in a dominant and submissive relationship. If a punishment is not fair, the submissive with lose trust and respect for the dominant.

It is also important for a dominatrix to understand her own strength. If she can do real damage during a punishment, then she must hold back. Emotions cannot get in the way of the safety of her submissive. A powerful punishment does not have to bring about physical harm. Often, the power of the punishment is more about emotions than the actual physical pain that the punishment causes.

Self control is also important as far as the dominatrix controlling her actions outside of punishments. A dominant expects and demands certain things from her submissive. She must also be able to handle herself in an appropriate way. If a submissive sees that a dominant is unable to control her actions, the submissive will then in turn be unable to control his actions.

An out of control dominatrix is very dangerous to the S&M community. If a dominatrix is out of control, she is a threat to anyone she takes on as a submissive. A submissive will look to the dominatrix for strength and growth potential, and without self control, the dominatrix cannot give that in a relationship.

A dominatrix has a very important role, and she must do everything she can to ensure that she is acting in a way that is beneficial for both her and her submissive. If she is not, the relationship will fail. However, if she is able to exhibit the qualities of a good dominant, the relationship will be able to flourish.
